As I get older, I become more aware of equivalents in the visual world. The process of transformation, of redefinition is central to my work. I am attracted to walls or places with a "message", where time, weathering and human action or the lack of it have left their marks. Older layers of colour emerge again, new parts are added. What was once important, got painted over, focuses shift through time. These walls tell us stories, they are like painted canvases, often have a textural beauty. And then there are the sun and shadows, two other important creators of visual drama.
